Dazu Grottoes

Dazu Grottoes are located in Dazu County, it is 70km away from Chongqing.

Dazu Grottoes is the most famous scenic area of Dazu.

It includes more than 60,000 figures in over 100 places.

The work of Dazu sculptures began during the Yongzhen period of early Tang dynasty and continued until Ming and Qing dynasties.

The collection sculptures located Baoding Hill and North Hill is the highest in artistic value.

These sculptures provide rich historic materials that reflected the life and thoughts of the ancient people in China.

The Dazu Grottoes was declared on Natural Heritage and World Cultural List in 1999 by UNESCO.
